Capcom releases in Australia: Still on schedule

Yesterday, we brought you the news that Australian company Red Ant Enterprises was now in receivership, putting a whole bunch of big-name titles into jeopardy. While the name may not be immediately familiar, Red Ant were the local distributors for publishers such as Bethesda, Konami, Midway and Capcom, and for a while there, some Australian releases were looking a little hazy.

But! Never fear, the first official statement from a publisher has trickled through, with Capcom explaining that despite what you may have heard, they're still planning on releasing their titles as if nothing had happened.

Here's what we heard, straight from Capcom themselves:
Certain recent news reports have speculated that owing to the financial status of Red Ant, Capcom’s distributor in Australia, that the release dates of Capcom’s forthcoming titles in this territory may be delayed. Capcom would like to state it does not expect any such delays and to reconfirm the following release dates:

Street Fighter IV (PS3&360) – February 20th
Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop (Nintendo Wii) – February 27th
Resident Evil 5 (PS3 & 360) – March 13th.

Future titles such as MotoGP (Nintendo Will) and Neopets Puzzle Adventure (DS, Wii & PC) are all scheduled to release in line with other PAL territories.

So. I think that's most of the major titles people were concerned about, so you can all rest that little bit easier. We're still waiting to hear back from the other publishers involved, here's hoping they follow suit and can make it through without altering release schedules!
