EVE Online: Apocrypha launches March 10th
With a record-breaking 45,000 capsuleers floating around in space CCP is busy banging out more dark matter to expand New Eden. The next expansion, Apocrypha will debut on March 10th, 2009 and will be available as a free download or available for purchase as a boxed product thanks to a partnership with Atari. So if you see EVE Online on store shelves, don’t eject from your intergalactic flesh bag – the world isn’t ending. If you play on a Mac, The Trinity Graphics Engine arrives in this new expansion too. FINALLY!

What features can you expect in the new expansion? If there’s no Ambulation they better be damn good ones. The good news is there’s something for both experienced and new players. The short list: Wormhole Exploration, Tech 3, Epic Mission Arcs, and a New Player Experience. Oh it doesn’t sound like much, but au contraire Tech 3 and Wormhole Exploration is quite significant!

Wormhole Exploration - This is where you and Alice stumble into a Wormhole, and learn about new technological advances in ship design. More specifically players will traverse wormholes and discover Tech 3, the next iteration in ship technology. Instead of a big gap in statistical prowess as seen with prior Tech tiers the advancement in Tech 3 allows for dynamic customization. That’s right; players will design their own ships. The unique configurations could total into the thousands and the battlefield will never be the same again.

The New Player Experience is just that – out with the old confusing tutorial that made simple things like undocking frustrating and in with further insight about the game that will literally confuse and blow minds away.

NPC Agents are your friends and will offer Epic Mission Arcs, full of meaningful stories and intelligent deadly adversaries – nothing like some new hardcore content to make sure your ship is insured. And of course, you will spin your own stories with other players while embarking on these missions.

Visit the EVE Online website now to sign up for a free 14-day trial account. There’s also a promotion for inactive players to return for up to five days at no cost. Good luck, pilots.
