Capcom starts off 2009 with a bang!
The first half of 2009 looks like being a big one for Capcom, who have confirmed that they're aiming to release seven new titles within that timeframe. The lineup covers a wide variety of genres, platforms and titles, including both new ideas and well-loved favourites.

We're looking at Flock!, Street Fighter IV, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, Neopets Puzzle Adventure, Resident Evil 5, MotoGP and Bionic Commando, all within six months (actually, it's more like the first three months...). Better start saving your pennies!

Following on from the strong tradition of digital download titles Capcom started in 2008, Flock! is the first off the blocks in '09. Scheduled for release in February, for Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network and the humble PC, Flock! combines two awesome concepts - aliens and sheep - into a snazzy little puzzle game.

You control a UFO who must herd farm animals onto the Mothership, through more than 50 interactive levels in both single-player and online co-op mode. If that's not enough, a powerful (and simple) level editor promises to extend the experience, so you can make your own adventures.

Flock! combines a unique theme, easy to pick up and play controls and some clever humour to bring a new twist to the puzzle genre.

Also in February, we finally get to see the (very welcome) return of a beloved franchise, when Street Fighter IV hits the streets for Xbox 360 and PS3 (with PC coming shortly, we're told). The latest in the series which has sold more than 25 million units in its lifetime, promises to put the fun back into fighting games, reigniting the passion that existed in the Street Fighter II era.

Everything you loved from the legendary Street Fighter II is back in Street Fighter IV, with new characters thrown in (some are exclusive to the home console version), as well as special moves, locations and gameplay elements, making sure things are still challenging for even the most experienced Street Fighter.

Late in the second month of the year also holds a zombie treat, with Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop scheduled for the Wii. This is a port of the cult favourite Xbox 360 version from 2006, and carries over the humour and challenge from the original, while updating many core elements for the Wii platform and new audience.

Finally, gamers are able to fend off zombie attacks, throw objects and swing makeshift weapons in real time, thanks to the Wii-mote functionality. Just remember to wear your wrist-strap, or your tv may be the next victim!

...and now for something completely different - Neopets Puzzle Adventure is (wait for it) also scheduled for February, promising to extend Neopets' virtual experience when it arrives on the Wii and PC, with a handheld version on DS. Considered one of the top 10 "stickiest" sites around the web, Neopets is the largest, and fastest growing, online youth community.

We have more screens for all three versions of Neopets Puzzle Adventure!

The upcoming Puzzle Adventure claims to be the "ultimate virtual-pet puzzle adventure game", promising more than 150 quests over three fantasy lands, offering plenty for puzzle enthusiasts, casual gamers and fans to explore and get into.

Onward into March - mark Friday the 13th on your calendar now, that's when you'll be heading out to get Resident Evil 5 and seeing how one of the scariest franchises translates to the Xbox 360 and PS3.

As if you need reminding, there's plenty more of these in Kijuju the library.

For the first time, you'll be able to experience co-op play (plus some other innovations) - with Resident Evil 5 shaping up to set a new standard in action gaming.

Prefer things a little faster, but a little less gory? How about MotoGP, for the Wii? It's timed to release at the same time as pre-season for the 2009 MotoGP season. While previous racers have turned the Wii-mote into a wheel, MotoGP turns it into a set of handlebars, all ready for you to race across three different classes, taking in single races, challenge stages or a full championship.

New and different AI rider characteristics and handling models will make this one easy to pick up and play, but also provide fun for the more seasoned bike-racing afficionado.

Finally, the world sees the first true sequel to a retro classic, with the impending release of Bionic Commando, initially available for both PS3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version following shortly after. Taking the fan favourite and dosingit up with a hefty wallop of next-gen power, Bionic Commando fully exploits the swing mechanic we've come to love, by taking advantage of the power in the latest generation of hardware.

You've got a Bionic Arm - what's stopping you from pummelling your opponents, swinging between towering skyscrapers, grabbing distant enemies or punching cars? Use it wisely and gain a distinct tactical advantage, allowing you to progress smoothly through the single-player campaign, or to take on all who dare challenge you in the multiplayer mode.
