C&C: Red Alert 3 gets a matchmaking 1.06 patch

Well now. Time to look at Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3. As you may recall, in his recent review, UgLyPuNk was a little cranky about various elements of the game - predominantly, the matchmaking software that seemed to do everything except, y'know, make matches.

Well, it seems that the people responsible for such things over at EA HQ have been made aware of the problem - and it looks like they might have fixed it! I'd like to introduce you all to the 1.06 patch, which is available in a multitude of languages, and replaces the beta version released last week.

While we're not 100% sure just what's been changed in this patch, we are promised that the automatching system has been significantly upgraded - with the statement that we can now "Automatch with lightning speed!". We'll get UgLyPuNk to check that one out later, but for now, you can grab the patch and try it for yourself.

The download also features a balance exploit fix and removes that pesky "Crane Exploit", which should make things a bit nicer for you, too. The English patch is less than 150MB, and remember, that's free traffic if you're an Internode customer - what are you waiting for!

(PS: If you have already installed the beta patch, there's no need to uninstall it - or to install this official version - nothing's actually changed!)
