PlayStation Home server hamster drunk, film at 11

In a bit of an early holiday accident, it would appear that someone's spiked the eggnog being given to Sony's PlayStation Home server hamsters. Sony is reporting that since the hamsters can't run the wheels on the beta servers, Home users will experience outages and lag. They are working on sobering them up by switching the liquid in their bottles with black coffee, and hope to have the service back online for all of the Home testers soon.
Of course, considering Home has just come out for the general public to kick the tires, situations like this have to be expected. While it may be an open beta at this point, Home is still a beta - with all the connectivity issues and bugs that it implies. It's a highly ambitious project to introduce a rich virtual world space on consoles as it is. Sounds like the stress testing is working, so far as pointing out what needs to be improved to bring a more stable experience.

In the meantime, while PlayStation users wait for the Home service to come back up so they can get their bowling on, there's lots of pretty cool stuff to check out in terms of new videos on the PlayStation Network. Alternately, you can just hang out with the rest of us here at GON and enjoy some video of the Home 'Red Bull Ace Race' while you wait.
We'll let you know if we hear anything more from the PlayStation reps.
