Savage 2: A Tortured Soul now free to play and download!
S2 Games, the developers behind Savage 2: A tortured Soul have announced that the game can now be downloaded and played online completely for free. Savage 2 blends first-person shooting action with real time strategy.

With twenty unit classes, and the ability to command or fight, Savage 2: A Tortured Soul provides many enhancements over the original title, and can now be played completely for free! We've got the client in a variety of formats - including a build for Windows, OSX, and both 32 and 64 bit Linux distributions.

In order to play Savage 2: A Tortured Soul, you'll first need to create a free account by registering on the S2 Games website. You'll be given the option to purchase a "Prime" account for US$9.99, which offers a few benefits over the free accounts.

Whilst these limitations are somewhat minor - the upgrade may prove worthwhile for those intent on getting the most out of the title. A "Prime" Savage 2 account will give you six inventory slots versus four, the ability to play as elite units known as a Hellbourne more than once, life-time statistics tracking, and access to an archive of replays.

Minimum System requirements for Savage 2 are quite reasonable, with a 2.2GHz Pentium 4 or AMD2000+ required as a CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 128MB DirectX 9.0 compliant graphics cards. These minimum requirements apply to the Windows version of the game, and also apply to Linux versions of the client.

If you've got an Intel based Mac running OSX 10.4 or later, you'll be able to run the game as long as you have 1GB of RAM and a 128MB OpenGL 2.0 complaint graphics card. This includes the GeForce 7300 and 8600, and the Radeon HD 2400 or X1600. Integrated graphics found in many Mac models are not supported at all.

If you're an Internode customer, the files are unmetered data, so go for your life - what is there to lose?
