DICE would like gamers to leave the city behind with the first announcement of downloadable content for their free-running action/adventure title Mirror's Edge: seven all-new Time Trial maps, available on all three platforms - PS3, Xbox 360 and PC - in late January.
...and yes, they've also confirmed that PC gamers won't be missing out on the game for much longer, with a worldwide release scheduled for January 16th, 2009.
Want to see what's in store? We've got a video and some new screenshots to show it off for you!

Test your agility and coordination as you race for the best time on nine tracks - there's no guns, no cops, and no city, with these seven totally redesigned Time Trial maps based purely on aesthetics, agility and flow, promising to challenge any runner! The downloadable pack will set you back US$10, or 800 MS points, depending on your platform - and if you pick it up for PlayStation 3, they'll even throw in an additional map for free.
Senior Producer at DICE, Owen O'Brien, explains:

Mirror's Edge straps players into the running shoes of Faith - a futuristic heroine who works as a courier, crossing the cityscape, battling enemies (and vertigo), taking part in fast-paced chases, and figuring out challenging puzzles. The game promises a "never-before-seen" sense of movement and perspective, and draws players deep into Faith's world.
It's out now for PS3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version promised in mid-January 2009.

"The freedom of movement and control in first person has been the most popular aspect of Mirror's Edge so we decided to distil these down to their purest form for this map pack. We deliberately chose a more abstract aesthetic that is still within our distinctive art style and then focused on flow and gameplay to create an experience and challenge very different from the main game."While Mirror's Edge has only been out a short while, the Time Trial mode has already proved popular, challenging players to find the fastest route throughout various maps - and then giving them the option to upload their best times to an online leaderboard. Gamers visiting the leaderboard can download these files, and compete directly against the recorded best times - seeing the first player run as a 'ghost' through the course.
