eGames is no longer a standalone event, as it now forms half of something bigger - iDEF, the International Digital Entertainment Festival, a new innovation that takes the gamer elements of eGames and pairs it with the techy goodness of the new Digital Lifestyle Show, which takes place in the same pavillion.
It kicked off yesterday and is running over three days, and we'll be bringing you news and updates from both shows - and yes, we've got the video camera so you can even expect some moving pictures, too!
Highlights of the weekend are set to include:
...and plenty more, including computer build-offs, retro gaming challenges, and even a gaming trivia quiz!
- FIFA Interactive World Cup Live Qualifier
- Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup appearing for Nokia N-Gage
- Channel 7's Gadget Guy making presentations on, well, gadgets
- Madman offering preview screenings of new anime they have on offer
- The Riff Wars contest to find the best Guitar Hero player
- eSports and competitive gaming going on all weekend
- a new Kids Zone, featuring Disney games such as Sing It and High School Musical
- Nintendo demonstrations and hands-on play areas
- Parkour performances around the hall (promoting Mirror's Edge)
- the PlayStation Zone, packed with LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2
- Intel presentations, explaining their new Core i7 Processor
If you're in Melbourne (or can get to Melbourne), then why not head over to the Exhibition Centre, Southbank. It'll set you back $18 for an adult, $13 concession, and children under 6 are admitted free!
