EA Sports Active to enter fitness market in 2009
EA have announced a new title, designed exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. EA Sports Active, which is to be developed in conjunction with "fitness experts" will bring an exercise experience similar to that of Wii Fit to the console. At a commitment of 20 minutes a day, the game promises 'a better you', if you follow its regime.

EA Sports Active will track a players motion on screen, providing real time feedback on their exercise routine and performance. Upper and lower body exercises are monitored, and a number of peripherals are included to assist with the exercises. These include specially designed leg straps in addition to an elastic 'resistance band'. We've got a first-look trailer for you to check out, along with a list of features that you can come to expect when the game launches in March 2009.

One of the key features of EA Sports Active is the 30 Day Challenge, which forms a roadmap to achieving desired fitness outcomes. The game will feature more than twenty different exercise routines, and these will vary in intensity. The other features are detailed in the trailer.

Peter Moore President of the EA Sports Brand, had the following to say regarding the title:
EA SPORTS Active and our entrance into the fitness space is an exciting and ground breaking milestone for EA SPORTS. As we continue to expand our brand, we have a real opportunity to redefine the home fitness experience with a more Western cardiovascular approach and exercises that will appeal to a diverse audience, getting people off the couch and into shape while interacting with our products in a way never before possible. EA SPORTS Active costs less than a gym membership, it provides a variety of exercises unlike a one dimensional in-home fitness contraption, and it delivers an interactive experience that you don’t get from a DVD – this is a true fitness revolution and a space in which we intend to be leaders.

One of the most frequent questions I am asked is how to get fit at home – especially from busy mums. EA SPORTS Active provides a fun and effective workout that targets your upper body, lower body, and gets your heart pumping in just 20 minutes a day. It’s a great way to get moving when you can’t get outside or you only have a short amount of time at home. In addition, I like the variety of exercises that it provides – one of the many reasons it has earned the Best Life seal of approval.
The Best Life Seal of Approval is an invention of Greene, and is backed by one of his foremost clients, Oprah Winfrey. EA Sports Active will be available on the Nintendo Wii in March 2009.
