Those who pre-ordered Left 4 Dead on Steam would be keenly aware that the demo is out - and have most likely been enjoying their early taste of the demo. For those who've not committed to the game financially, the demo is now available for free download through Steam, weighing in at around 2,220MB.

The demo is also available to Xbox 360 owners, who can acquire a copy of the demo by downloading it through the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Featuring two maps, the demo offers a taste of both multi player and single player, from an early stage of the game - the hospital.

We've got a number of servers for the game up so if you want to check out the game before committing to a purchase, be quick, as the demo will only be active until the release of the game. On November 18th, the dead will rise and enter store fronts (both virtual and real) worldwide, when the zombie apocalypse begins in full.

With four campaigns to be featured in the final release of Left 4 Dead, players will be able to step into the shoes of one of four characters who are immune to a viral outbreak which has caused the dead to rise. Each campaign will feature five maps, and the ability to partake in cooperative, online gameplay, Left 4 Dead in addition with a single player component which will couple gamers with AI controlled team mates.

Left 4 Dead will be available on the PC and the Xbox 360, and has been surrounded by much hype and anticipation. Can it live up to this? Does it live up to the hype? Let us know your thoughts so far!
