Gears of War turning between the ABC and Microsoft

Gears of War 2 is potentially THE biggest game for Microsoft and its Xbox 360 console this year. It's expected to sell around 10 million copies worldwide.

Rather than send the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's TV show Good Game a disk of the game to review, Microsoft kindly invited us to its HQ in Northern Sydney to play it in their presence. Unfortunately they declined our request to record and broadcast our own footage from our play session instead providing us with the official Microsoft images and scenes from the game and, as exciting as these are, most of them you can find on the interwebs already and were limited to the very early levels of the game.

But this has not stopped Good Game from going ahead with its extensive review. Whilst the official footage has mostly hit the cutting room floor, the Good Game team have re-enacted key game-play from Gears of War 2 with intensely realistic modelling, amazing special effects and explosive pyrotechnics including a burning tank. All for the incredible public broadcasting budget of just under $10 ($7.20 of that on sparklers).

We hope that the viewers enjoy our review of one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the year. Also in the episode, reviews of Midnight Club: LA, Fallout 3, a competition with Craig Foster in FIFA 09, and does the interactivity of video games allow you to challenge your own moral code?
