Spore Expansions Unveiled by EA
Spore hit store shelves just over a month ago. It hasn't taken EA very long to announce the first round of expansion content for the title. The recently announced expansions will come in a two phases. The first of these, "Spore: Creepy & Cute Parts Pack" will be available "as soon as" November 18th worldwide, and provides players with with more than one hundred new creature components.

The second of the planned expansions will offer gamers "deeper Space stage gameplay", due in "spring" 2009 (so, Autumn for us Australians). Some details regarding the expansion content has been released by EA, and we've got all the information you could possibly want regarding the new content.

We'll first have a brief look at the "Creepy and Cute Parts Park", which will (as the title alludes) introduce new creature parts in two different styles with the cute described as "charming, cartoon-esque creatures" with the creepy "scary, monster-like creatures".

The "Creepy and Cute Parts Pack" will include body parts, paint options, new animations, backgrounds and "more". It will be compatible with both retail versions of Spore and the stand-alone Creature Creator.

Once you've created your new creatures, in 2009, you'll be able to take them (back) into space, with the ability to beam your creatures down to other planets in the Cosmos to "explore new planets" and "earn rewards for completing challenging missions."

A new feature - dubbed the "Adventure Creator" will give players the ability to craft and share their missions online - much like the Creature Creator, it will open up even more gameplay avenues.

Lucy Bradshaw, General Manager of Maxis Studio had the following to say about the planned Spore expansions:
Spore is an incredibly personal and customizable experience. Many of our fans have asked us for even more tools to build with, while others are looking to extend their gameplay. As soon as we wrapped up Spore, we turned our focus to creating additional content that caters to fans’ individual tastes. With the cosmos as our backdrop, we can take Spore in almost infinite directions, constantly changing and evolving the experience.
Personally, I am hoping that we won't see approximately 20,000 individual Spore expansion packs like we do with The Sims. If you don't know what all the fuss is about in regards to Spore, why not check out our review or previous coverage?
