Recently, the DRM debate continued in this article, with the pleasant news that Crytek would be taking a less draconian stance with Crysis Warhead, and now it turns out they're giving away registration keys for an upcoming trial.

Actually, it's not much of a secret. We have the full client lovingly nestled on the server for your downloading delight, and registration for trial keys opened about eight hours ago at MyCrysis.com. Get yourself over there, register, check your email every five minutes for your key, and once your client is installed (and working), Bob's your uncle.

Your key unlocks the client for LAN use indefinitely (already a pretty good deal) and more importantly, for server access from U.S. central time 6 PM Friday 10th October until the end of Sunday, October 12th, after which you'll need to cough some cash up for your copy of Crysis Wars. I believe Australian central time is 15 and a half hours ahead, so we can get busy from about 9:30 on Saturday morning, and keep it up until Monday. Not a bad way to find out whether Crysis Wars is worth your pocket money, now is it?

If it's somehow passed you by, Crysis Warhead, the game to which Crysis Wars is the multiplayer side, is the sequel to 2007 FPS Crysis, the glorious loveliness of which spurred many gamers on to upgrade their boxes and others to complain that developers ought not to release stunningly beautiful games that they want to play, but require what was the time relatively uncommon high end hardware. Despite the hype, sales were not as high as expected, but those who possess the alien invasion/political emergency shooter and its sequel tend to swear by it.

The free trial is only available this coming weekend, so if you haven't done so already, start downloading!
