Left 4 Dead demo arriving soon for PC and Xbox 360

It's always nice when developers give gamers a chance to try before they buy, with the release of a playable demo for their games. Word has just come over that Valve's upcoming zombie-shooter Left 4 Dead will be receiving a demo for both the PC and Xbox 360 versions.

Gabe Newell, co-founder and managing director of the publisher, has confirmed that the demo is set to feature the first part of one of the game's four campaign 'movies' - potentially the level that has been demonstrated to the press, The Hospital.

While he was keeping tight-lipped on a date, Gabe was pretty forthcoming with other details - such as the fact that "You'll be able to play single-player and co-op in the demo".

He continued:
"We will be releasing demos for both the Xbox and for the PC. I don't know what the date is for release on that, though. I think it's going to contain the first part of one of the campaigns. I think it'll probably be Hospital but I'm not sure. That's a decision that Doug Lombardi is making."

Headed to both PC and Xbox 360 in "November", Left 4 Dead sets out to do for co-op gaming what Counter-Strike did for team combat. Plus, y'know, it's got zombies. It can't possibly be bad.
