Fracture - deforming demo deployed next week

Last night, Matt Williams covered the LucasArts showcase from Activate Asia 2008. One of the games included in the lineup was a little terrain-deforming shooter known as Fracture. We also recently heard from David Wildgoose, who had a hands-on with the game, and managed to interview the developers, too.
While there wasn't much hype for the game beforehand, it's certainly starting to ramp up a bit now in preparation for next month's launch. Not only is there more news floating around for the title, but you'll soon be able to try it out yourself, with a demo arriving on September 18th, for both Xbox 360 and PS3.
This demo gives players a first-hand introduction to the revolutionary Terrain Deformation gameplay mechanic, which adds on-the-fly cover creation and manipulation of the very geography of the game.

Fracture hurtles gamers into the year 2161, where years of environmental neglect have split the United States into two distinct halves, with their own conflicting ways of life. The Pacifican States in the West have turned to genetic engineering and stem cell research in their quest for a better way of life, while survivors of the Atlantic Alliance have chosen to invest time and money in technology and cybernetics. Predictably, the two resulting ideologies conflict strongly - which has lead to a deadly civil war over the fate of the free world - over the future of mankind itself!
You play Atlantic Alliance soldier Jet Brody as he attempts to quell the Pacifican uprising through an exhilarating single-player campaign, starting out in the now-dry San Francisco bay, and travelling across the ravaged country - using the power of Terrain Deformation to create cover, solve puzzles and revolutionise battlefield tactics.

We're not sure what will be included in the demo at this stage, but the full version will see you test your mettle against friends and strangers in over-the-top multiplayer modes, coupling non-stop action with Terrain Deformation technology to create some brutal 12-player battles in gameplay modes that have been specially designed for Fracture and the Terrain Deformation technology.
Not long now before the full game arrives - October 15th is the date to mark in your calendars, when you can pick up Fracture for either PS3 or Xbox 360 (or both, if you're greedy).
