LEGO Batman gets a new playmate: Batgirl!

LEGO Batman just got a little more gender balanced, with the revelation that Batgirl will not only be included in the upcoming blocky title, but she will be a playable character, too!
Joining the already-impressively large ranks of the LEGO Batman crew, we've got all the details on just who this mysterious character really is... and just what she'll be able to get up to, ingame!
Raised as the adopted daughter of Gotham City's Police Commissioner James W. Gordon, Barbara Gordon grew up in a house full of cops and their adventures. The little girl dreamed of one day following in her heroic father's footsteps, but Dad said no - he knew how dangerous the streets could be.
Upset by her father's steadfast refusal, Barbara attended a masquerade ball in a homemade 'Batgirl' costume - as a dig against her father. Instead of merely dancing, drinking a little and poking fun at Dad, Barbara ended up foiling a kidnapping attempt by Killer Moth, saving billionaire Bruce Wayne from his clutches.
This was her calling - this was how she could serve the cause of justice! Barbara decided to keep her costumed identity - even though her inspiration, Batman himself, was against the decision (much like her father would have been, had he known who was behind the mask). Over time, the Dark Knight grew to accept Barbara as Batgirl, and made her part of his inner circle of crimefighters, keeping Gotham City safe.
