While I know feelings towards EA's upcoming MMO Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning are a bit mixed, this latest tidbit of information is sure to get a reaction, one way or the other.

September 23rd has been announced as a preliminary launch date - we haven't yet seen official confirmation of this, but that's the date popping up on retail sites around the US, and has now also appeared on an official EA info site, adding a bit more credibility to the release (at least in Singapore!).


At the recent E3 Summit, developers Mythic announced that Warhammer Online was "pretty much done", with only some finishing touch-ups and polishes required to get the game ready for its final release. It's also been confirmed that the guild beta is the last closed beta phase, before open beta and then the game hitting shelves.

Maybe don't hold your breath just yet, EA and Mythic still need to make an official statement on the topic, but, right now, after countless delays, setbacks, and the removal of game content, all signs are pointing to a release on or around Septemer 23rd (which is a Tuesday, we may see it on the Thursday of that week). About time, too!
