One piece of new intellectual property that has emerged recently from LucasArts is Fracture. Chienne has given us some fairly conclusive coverage on the title in the past, which outlines Fracture's dystopian imagination of potential future events.

While other titles may have had monolithic accounts of their features emerge from E3 along with tons of screenshots, trailers and the like, LucasArts have been quiet with Fracture, releasing only three! new screenshots from Fracture, along with an updated fact sheet.


Fracture explores the conflict that is sparked by divisions of a future US state in which the country is divided between genetic manipulation and cybernetic augmentation of the human body. With unique combat and gameplay mechanics revolving around terrain deformation, players can expect the following:

• Truly next-generation gameplay – Groundbreaking terrain deformation allows players to reshape the battlefield on the fly with futuristic weaponry of the year 2161, allowing for unprecedented power, freedom and control.

• All new story and characters from the company that brought you Star Wars and Indiana Jones, as well as Mercenaries and Thrillville – Players assume the role of Jet Brody, a demolitions expert in the mighty Atlantic Alliance army and the next great action hero.

• Plausible future conflict – As stem cell research continues to proliferate and spirals out of control, ideological differences over genetic enhancement place the player at the threshold of an epic battle of tomorrow between genetics vs. cybernetics as two powerful armies, with vastly differing tactics and advantages, square off. The battlefield will change forever.

Fracture will release on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 'Summer 2008' (so, presumably Winter here...) There isn't much information around relating to definite release dates - but it looks as though we may see the title in late September or October. When we know more, we'll let you know.
