Tom Clancy's EndWar - WW3 now comes with voice recognition
While video game developers are still concentrating on World War II, it's always nice when someone takes a look at a different conflict - even one that hasn't happened... yet.

If you'd like to experience World War III from the safety of your lounge room, then Tom Clancy's EndWar should probably find its way onto your list.

We've got all the latest details on the game, plus a commented walkthrough trailer that has arisen from this week's E3 Summit.

...now, I'm not sure if you've heard, but this is the game that puts you in control of the war - by letting your own voice control the units.

It also takes a unique perspective on the game, with a new third-person camera that throws you deep in the heart of the battle. Watch as hundreds of units engage the enemy and unleash devastation on the fully destructible battlefields. True to the Tom Clancy legacy, EndWar offers a wide range of equipment, vehicles and weapons based on real-world military research, which makes this title even more representative of the cutting-edge technology we may see in tomorrow's wars.

Superpower faces superpower in an all-out war, and you're in command. Play single-player and pick the European Enforcers Corps, the US-led Joint Strike Force, or the Russian Spetsnaz Guards Brigade, or join the persistent-world Theatre of War mode to play online against friends.

Due out in 2009 for PS3 and Xbox 360, Ubisoft are currently hard at work making this one something special. What do you think? How well do you think this voice-control thing will work... especially given that you probably have an Australian accent that is notoriously incompatible with voice-recognition software... think about it.
