WaW! Expect to hear a lot more of that acronym before too long, especially coupled with some sort of fish.
Treyarch have unveiled the first few details on their upcoming shooter - Call of Duty: World at War (or CoD:WaW for short) - and we've got the debut trailer for you to check out!
Promising to take gamers to the South Pacific and European theatres of war for the first time, Call of Duty: World at War is a gritty fight that pits gamers against enemies that know no surrender - and show no mercy.
Yes, Infinity Ward are being left behind on this one, but Treyarch have stepped up to follow up their success with Call of Duty 3 with this new title. Taking the CoD4: Modern Warfare engine to new extremes, gamers will be thrown into WWII combat with a new enemy, new tactics and an uncensored experience of these generation-shaping battles. Play as US Marines and Russian soldiers, and try out new weapons and features in one of the most cinematically intense - and chaotic - experiences to date.
Known earlier as Call of Duty 5, Call of Duty: World at War brings new meaning to the mantra that "No One Fights Alone", with the introduction of four-player online multiplayer for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC - whlie the console gamers can also battle it out in two-player local split-screen. The Wii's not being left out either, getting a unique co-op two-player mode.
For the first time ever, the harrowing single-player missions can be fought side-by-side for greater tactical execution and some morale-boosting. Co-op is arranged to allow players to unlock perks and rank up in competitive multiplayer by earning experience points and completing challenges, thus adding team-based gameplay and continuous re-playability. Play cooperatively or competitively - whichever you choose will earn you experience points!
...and it's worth noting, depending on your experience rank and the rank of your friends, Call of Duty: World at War will scale the difficulty level, providing you with a deeper level of challenge. Nice.
