Hanging out for StarCraft II? Take a deep breath, a handful of US retailers may have just let the cat out of the bag about when you'll likely be able to get your hands on a copy of the eagerly-anticipated intergalactic RTS sequel. While developers Blizzard have continued their vow of silence on the topic, three gaming shops in the US have all posted the same supposed release date - December 3rd, 2008 - on their websites.

This news comes just a few days before Blizzard host their fourth Worldwide Invitational in Paris (the first time the event's been held outside of Korea) - so, while I'd take it right now with a grain of salt, all may be revealed over the 28th-29th when gamers converge on France. Keep in mind that the game was first announced at last year's Invitational, so a follow-up announcement this year may not be out of the question.


At this stage, I'd imagine that Circuit City, Gamestop and Best Buy are receiving a few preorders - but it's worth noting that quite often, game stores around the world will assign an arbitrary date to upcoming titles, just to have something to put in the database. This may just be a coincidence, and all three may have entered the same combination of numbers.

...or they may know something we don't!
