I can smell testosterone...
For those of us interested in the Championship Gaming Series, lack of access to US based satellite TV service and CGS owner DirecTV has meant that following the league has mainly been a case of checking the scores after the event. Luckily, the official CGS partner channel on YouTube will shortly be going some way to rectify this oversight, by providing ad-supported premium content including clips from training and competitive matches, as well as lots of bonuses like interviews, tips and tricks.

I'm not crazy about being subjected to advertising, but really, a few seconds of consumerism isn't going to spoil my enjoyment of watching professional sport; after all, we put up with it during other professional sports like AFL.

If you're not familiar with the CGS, it's a global league based in the US but with participating teams for a handful of gamer-rich countries like Germany, the UK and Brazil. There's an Australian team, too; The Sydney Underground, and they're not too shabby, competing in local tournaments as well as the CGS - and yes, they do occasionally recruit new members.

There are five official games played in the season: Dead or Alive 4 and Forza Motorsport 2 on Xbox 360, as well as Counter-Strike: Source, FIFA 08, and most recently WoW: Burning Crusade. The presentation of matches is more fun than you might think, if you like the high-energy excitement of US style pro-sports.

You can catch all the CGS action of the upcoming series on the YouTube partner channel as well as check out Sydney Underground's site. The US season begins on June 2nd.
