The news buzzing all over the internet today is that id Software has commenced production on the long-awaited, highly-anticipated return to the DOOM universe - and are currently hiring people to start work on DOOM 4.

One of the most recognisable franchises in the history of gaming, it's been a while between drinks for the DOOM franchise. DOOM 3 was released in 2004 ...and since then, there's been a couple of console appearances, and even a movie (less said about that the better, perhaps). It's a worthy time for a comeback.

Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software explains:

"DOOM is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth. It's critical for id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles."

Otherwise, like the rest of us, you can just sit and wait patiently for the game details to start trickling down to the mortals. (By the way, it's possibly worth noting that the jobs are looking for people to work on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Surprised?)
