Everybody loves Spider-Man. While the recent games using the characters have been... well... not so great, Shaba and Treyarch have dusted off the franchise yet again, and are pouring their collective hearts and souls into creating Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.

Details on the game are fairly slim at this point, other than the fact it'll feature free-roaming gameplay, "with a dark twist". We've got a few more bits and pieces about the plot, but more excitingly, we've also got the announcement trailer all ready for you to watch.


New York City has been invaded, and the city leaders have declared martial law. Playing as Spider-man himself, it's your task - accompanied by friends such as Luke Cage and S.H.I.E.L.D. - to try and keep the situation under control, grappling with enemies such as The Kingpin. The choices you make will affect which allies join you for the final battle, and will impact on how the public views you.

As if that wasn't enough, you'll can even be able to sign up to the official website, and vote on which features will be revealed - and even the setting of the next trailer.

Early days yet, but I'm sure gamers and comic fans around the world are crossing their fingers that Spider-Man: Web of Shadows continues down the direction hinted at in this video, and stops the trend of dismal Spider-man games.
