OFLC declares GTA IV suitable for Australians

| Finally, it seems we have some good news coming out of the Australian censorship board, with the OFLC granting GTA IV an MA 15+ rating, for "Strong violence, Strong coarse language, Drug and sexual references". This is good news, as I know of more than one person who watched the recent Move Up, Ladies trailer, observed a few blood spatters and announced that there was "no way" Australia would get to play an uncensored version of the game. Looks like they were wrong, and the game is set to be released Down Under on schedule, in "early 2008". The result of this ruling: while 15 year olds can play Rockstar's latest in Australia, their peers in the US will have to wait until they are 17, if the game recieves the expected M rating over there. | ![]() |

GTA San Andreas, GTA III, GTA IV
It's worth noting that most of the earlier GTA series have also been branded MA 15+, while GTA III was refused classification (effectively banned) in 2001, and while GTA San Andreas was released in this country, following the 2005 Hot Coffee scandal, the rating was revoked and the game pulled from shelves.
