Call of Duty 4 via Steam now Twice the Price

Those of you who thought you'd gotten a great deal on buying Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare over Steam - you were right. Overnight, the price of the game has nearly doubled, bringing it more in line with Australian brick-and-mortar retailers.
Yesterday, you could have downloaded the game for the standard price of US$49.95 - but if you'd slept on it with the idea of buying it today, you'll be set back US$88.50, a whopping increase of more than 75%.

According to Activision, the change is a correction, not a price hike. The game was never intended to be listed at the lower price (effectively undercutting local retailers), and it was a mistake on Steam's end that has now been fixed. Still - it means that for exactly the same digital download, we're being slugged nearly twice the price of the Americans (we're not making that up - compare: Australian price vs American price).
Nothing we can really do about it, either. Grit your teeth and put up with it - and congrats to those of you who snapped this one up early!
