It's official. The crew of metal historians over at Double Fine Productions have been burning the midnight oil and are now proud to announce, with some help from Sierra Entertainment, the discovery and initial findings of Brütal Legend, including the brand new teaser trailer.
Reconstructing events that took place eons ago, the two groups are hoping to allow future generations to experience - and pay respect to - the blood, sweat and chrome needed to ensure metal prevailed.
...and sshhhhh - they've got actor Jack Black along for the ride!

The blessed bass drums and sacred power chords are guiding Tim Schafer and his Double Fine team as they work to master the primeval secrets of the Age of Metal.
In exchange for assembling a legion in his own design, Eddie has been offered the wealth and knowledge of an ancient kingdom - so he's set about compiling a motley crew of "demons, dragsters, amp stacks, leather and chrome" to serve his purpose. The world's first, ultimate Tour of Destruction hurtles across the land, driving the ancient world helter skelter into the Age of Metal.
Double Fine, best known for their work on Psychonauts, are looking carefully at the period in history where a divine society used the raw materials of ROCK, combined with hot rods which lay dormant underground - and their experts have revealed the fantastic nature of this world. Big-block V8 engines were dug up out of the earth like minerals. Trees made of chrome offered their branches for exhaust pipes, and the sky was lit up with the heavenly lighters held aloft by the gods.
Prepare yourself for the onslaught of true Brutal mayhem and enlightenment when this one hits shelves with a bang in 2008, for both Xbox 360 and PS3.

"Holy crap! I have been dreaming about this day for fifteen years. And now it is finally here. We've gathered small clues over the years about the Age of Metal, in songs, t-shirts and album covers. But now we have uncovered the metal mother lode, the full legend of what actually happened in that loud and heavy era, and we are the lucky ones who get to tell the tale."Martin Tremblay, president of Worldwide Studios for Sierra Entertainment explains:
"Our existence as humans will forever be reconceived. Definitive answers to the discovery of dry ice, invention of the wheel, Jurassic era, religious convention and many other testaments and myths are going to be revealed to the world."According to insiders close to Schafer, Brütal Legend chronicles the life and times of Mr. Eddie Riggs - a roadie for a virtuous metal band who has mysteriously been dragged back through time to learn his true purpose.
