It's come to our attention that Operation Flashpoint 2 now has a subtitle. If you're looking for information on the return of one of the genre leaders when it comes to modern military simulation gaming, you'll now want to keep an eye out for Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising.

Eagerly anticipated for the major console platforms as well as PC, Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising signals the long-overdue return of the total conflict simulator, challenging a brand new generation of gamer to make their way through the chaos and ever-changing situations of military combat - set in a new and contemporary theatre.

Andrew Wafer, Brand Manager for Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising, at Codemasters, explains:

"Set on a vast oil-rich island, located off the eastern coast of Russia, north of Japan, Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising's fiction occurs during a time of tension between Russia and China over the island's disputed ownership. The game will open as Chinese forces launch an offensive and, referencing the title, as the dragon rises over the island, players will find themselves in a situation that is set to flare up into a flashpoint like never before."

That's right - as the video illustrates, all military transportation, weapons and the soldiers themselves will be realistically detailed and as authentic as possible. Gamers will experience a comprehensive simulation of a Real World location, densely packed in order to enrich the environment and challenge the senses.

No word yet on just when you'll be able to see this one first-hand, but it'll be interesting to see how Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising shapes up next to "spiritual successor" to the original Operation Flashpoint - the already released ArmA: Armed Assault.
