Kickstarter-Funded Planescape 2 a Real Possibility
In light of the spectacular success of Double Fine's crowd-sourced Kickstarter-corralled initiative to fund an all-new old-school point-and-click adventure, Obsidian Entertainment creative director Chris Avellone has put the word out that his own studio could soon launch a similar project.
Popular suggestions so far include a sequel to Planescape Torment, Beta Protocol, and a modern remake of Darklands:

Avellone is still taking suggestions, both at the official Obsidian forums and via Twitter.All of Double Fine’s success from Kickstarter has been inspiring.

I GUESS PEOPLE LOVE THOSE CLASSIC ADVENTURE GAMES AFTER ALL.*
The idea of player-supported funding is... well, it’s proof certain genres aren’t dead and sequels may have more legs than they seem. And the idea of not having to argue that with a publisher is appealing.
