Online Play Confirmed for The Last of Us

"Make my day."
The next issue of Game Informer magazine contains a jumbo preview on the upcoming PS3 survival horror game The Last of Us, and scans of this massive exposé have already hit the web.

As Naughty Dog staff explain in the lavishly illustrated feature article, every aspect of the game has been designed to build tension, including the combat system. Ammunition will be scarce, but a single bullet can kill – and the enemy AI will reflect this. Slay a hostile hobo with your gun, and his cohorts will flee, and try to flank you. Wield a cudgel instead, and they'll swarm towards you.

Dubbed the 'Balance of Power' system, this style of play was heavily inspired by the Anton Chigurh vs. Llewelyn Moss gun battle in No Country for Old Men.

Online play of some kind has been confirmed, but the specifics are still being hammered out.

You can see the blurry scans for yourself, along with a summary of the articles revelations, by clicking here.

If you don't like to squint (and/or would prefer to do the right thing), note that the Australian edition of Game Informer includes all the goodies from the US edition, and is available from your friendly local newsagent for just AU$4.95.
