All Lies - Sony Denies Widespread Vita Issues , Did Not Apologise

The launch of the PlayStation Vita in Japan on the weekend was a major success for Sony, thoroughly exceeding expectations. It wasn't all good news however, with word quickly spreading through the West that the console was plagued by console faults. Sony has now gone on record and claim that there are no widespread issues with the console. What's more, Sony denies they ever apologised for such issues.

According to The Guardian, Sony has fallen victim to Chinese whispers and mistranslation of an unrelated apology posted by the company. David Wilson, head of UK PR at Sony Computer Entertainment, clarified the confusion:
"We're annoyed with these stories, because we can't find any evidence of widespread glitches [...] The stories even said that Sony has issued an apology for PS Vita glitches, which simply isn't true – there's an apology on our Japanese website for people who are having trouble getting through to our technical help line, but that's it."
We reported on the issues and apology earlier in the week, relaying articles posted by other news outlets.

Wilson seems further angered by some news outlets claiming to post solutions to alleged glitches by linking to Sony's own video's of the standard procedures for powering the PS Vita on and off, which has been on Sony's website since before the launch.

The new handheld sold 325,000 units on its debut weekend in Japan. By comparison, Australia's fastest selling console, the Nintendo 3DS, took 37 weeks to sell 200,000 units. The figure still falls behind the 3DS' Japanese debut however, which shifted 371, 000 units on its opening weekend.

The PlayStation will be released locally on February 23, 2012.
