New Scrolls Details Revealed at PAX
![]() |
As Porser has revealed, Mojang's upcoming Magic-esque collectable card game will be playable on multiple formats, and even via web browsers (a la Card Hunter). To help balance the fact that players' cards will 'level up' and improve with use, there will be a system of ranked matches to help prevent noobs from getting creamed by grind-happy veterans.
The tournament format is not yet set in stone, but Mojang is considering letting players organise their own structured competitions. The basic game will be sold at a modest, but as-yet-undetermined price point, and from there players will be able to buy additional cards piecemeal, and/or purchase a 'Lifetime Subscription' which will award them all-new cards every month.
Porser was also asked if Mojang has a back-up name for Scrolls, in case Bethesda succeeds in suing their arses off. His response:
Someone suggested 'Rolled Up Parchments'... [Laughter]. No, we don't have any back-up names. And we won't even consider back-up names for now.So it's 'crash through, or crash' for Mojang. More details, and lots of PAX photos, at the Minecraft Forum blog.
