UPDATE: The Classification Board confirms that Quake IV is indeed rated MA15+ as in their database. We are still waiting for a response from id Software.

ORIGINAL STORY: So by now we all know the R18+ rating for games has been approved at a Federal level. Great news huh? Although the change isn't anticipated to take place for at least a good few months, while checking out the goodies in the QuakeCon 2011 Sale, one eagle-eyed Twitter user has noticed something rather peculiar in one of the game listings...

While checking the listing for Quake IV, Twitter user and games.on.net community member Krushr noticed something rather interesting. Under the game's details the game is currently marked with an Australian R18+ classification.

Although the classification looks to be made in error, as the description associated with the R18+ classification "%oflcDescriptors%" appears to be a placeholder, it still raises many questions. Will the R18+ classification arrive sooner than we thought? Is this one of the games to be re-classified when the rating system is revised?

We're contacting the Australian Classification Board and id Softwre looking for answers. We'll keep you posted on the result.
