LulzSec Raid Bethesda, Steal Brink User Details

When you just gotta know
So LulzSec have broken into the US Senate’s website and distributed a bunch of its internal data – never mind that. What’s more important right now is that they’ve also managed to gain access to Bethesda Softwork’s servers via recently-released multiplayer shooter-fest, Brink after failing to extort game info. Curiously, the hack was made because they actually wanted more information on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It’s a funny kind of world the LulzSec men ‘n women inhabit…

The hack was initiated through Brink, from which LulzSec allegedly managed to make off with 200,000 user accounts. They also briefly documented the attack. It’s best read in song:

“After mapping their internal network and thoroughly pillaging all of their servers, we grabbed all their source code and database passwords, which we proceeded to shift silently back into our storage deck.”

Whilst the server’s data has now been released into the internet wild, LulzSec are keeping the Brink user info private for the moment. Bethesda have since released a statement addressing the issue.
