It's been officially announced that Resident Evil will make an appearance on the Wii. What Capcom are doing is releasing Resident Evil 4 as a customized version just for the Wii. So they are adjusting the game for use with the Wii remote and nunchuck controllers as well as adding some extra content to change it from the GameCube version. It will receive all of the extra content made available for the PS2 and also the customized Widescreen mode which was missing from the GameCube version.

What they have done is to customize the controls of the game specifically to the Wii and Capcom are saying that this makes the game the "definitive" version of Resident Evil. You control the main character with the nunchuck control stick, however, shooting is performed with Wii remote. You aim onscreen with the Wii remote and it will provide a highly accurate way of wasting some zombies. It is expected that the Wii version will be sold at a reduced price as well.

On a side note, Capcom have released a commercial to publicize the coming of Resident Evil 4 to the Wii and it would have to be one of the worst commercials I have ever seen.
