In response to allegations that the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 is a failure since it only accounts for 3% of the games sales, Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling has tried to put things in perspective on the IW forums.
"The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has actually outsold the PC version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in it's first week. Making it the most successful PC version..."

Resumes published online by former members of a 2K Austin development team strongly suggest that their cancelled project was a massively multiplayer version of Sid Meier's Civilization.
With a look modelled on the highly stylised MMOs popular in South Korea, the 'strategy MMO' would have included many of the hallmarks of the Civ series, including architectural styles that change dynamically through history, large scale land battles, and customisable throne rooms...

Stardock's 2009 report has revealed some pretty interesting data regarding Demigod. In the company's report, it has been revealed that only 23% of people who purchased the game even attempted to play an online game.
While that may be disturbing, Demigod is still selling a few thousand copies each week, meaning that the game has been fairly successful for the company, but as Gas Powered Games developed the game for multiplayer, it does illustrate that less and less people seem to be playing strategy games online, with something like less than 2000 people being online in Demigod at any given time.

Those of you who have tried to recently purchase Borderlands through Steam will have noticed that it has mysteriously disappeared from the Australian Steam Store.
The mystery has been solved, and the conclusion isn't all that good for Australian gamers. Due to an "internal error" at 2K games, Borderlands "was briefly available for download on Steam for Australian users at an incorrect price", said a 2K spokesperson.

Lurching its way on to Aussie screens this week, our hobbled version of L4D2 is a very different game to the one Valve created. Does the removal of guts and gore have a dramatic impact on the core gameplay though? Surely a bit of the old red stuff can't make that much of a difference, right? Read on to find out.

It’s no surprise that, if we had to choose to take one game to a desert island for the rest of our life, we’d take a Battlefield title. The sublime mix of vehicles, massive maps and destructible mayhem make it our favourite way to play online. It'd be a great way to spend our last two days before dying from dehydration.
Understandably, we’re rather excited about the release of today’s closed beta for Bad Company 2 - we’ve got a key, and will be recording a video preview post haste. To keep you busy in the meantime, check out this new Battlefield Moments video, showing exactly why this game makes MW2 its female dog.

Infinity Ward have really outdone themselves with Modern Warfare 2. The latest reports of horror surrounding the game have emerged from the developer's official forums, in which several users have reported seeing their anti-virus applications warn of a Trojan Horse while playing Modern Warfare 2 online.
Several forum users on the Infinity Ward forums claim that the game's peer to peer multiplayer is the cause of the "Trojan" spreading. Others believe that illegitimate players using aimbots and other hacks are the cause of alarm.

A demo for the PC version of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising has been released. While the demo is only, say, a month or so late - it finally allows PC gamers to try out the game before they decide whether or not their hard earned money should be spent on the title.
The demo gives access to the first level of the game, and allows players to complete it on their own, or with a buddy by using the Co-op feature. The first mission takes place behind enemy lines, and players are tasked with destroying a radar station, and missile launch sites to allow back up forces to enter the battle zone.

Everyone knew that Modern Warfare 2 was going to sell a lot of copies. In just five days, Activision have managed to sell US$550 million worth of Modern Warfare 2, making it, according to internal Activision estimations, the largest entertainment launch in all of recorded history, surpassing Grand Theft Auto IV, the film The Dark Knight, and even JK Rowling's Harry Potter books.
While Modern Warfare has sold an awful lot, it isn't the only thing making cash registers spark up and dollar signs float in the air around the Activision castle. CEO of the of the company, Robert Kotick has also pulled quite a profit from the launch of the game, through selling shares in the company. By selling off a bunch of shares, the CEO has made himself approximately US$40 million richer in just one week.

Who says that PC gamers don't ever get anything? Ubisoft have announced that a special, extended and exclusive multiplayer beta for VIP PC gamers (what qualifies them for VIP status is not known) will begin on the 30th of November for the upcoming strategy game, R.U.S.E.
The concept behind R.U.S.E is that of deception. The ability to use decoy units and attacks will play a major role in the game. While decoys are used in lots of RTS games to distract the enemy player, a game that allows the player to use stealth, deception, and cheaper decoy units as one of the major gameplay mechanics is something fresh.
