Jagged Alliance: Flashback gets weather, day/night cycle and advanced combat in first major patch

Jagged Alliance: Flashback - you know, the Jagged Alliance remake that isn’t terrible – has received its first major update since entering the bottomless pit that is Steam’s Early Access databanks. And in keeping with the spirit of Jagged Alliance 2 - which was the most superior title of anything baring the JA moniker – some excellent additions have been made to Flashback

“Keep your mercenaries healthy, as they can now bleed to death if you don’t patch them up with bandages,” the announcement warns, adding that raincoats will be necessary for the new weather system. Whether raincoats are an equippable item isn’t actually known at this stage, although you can dress your mercenaries up and down. The full list is below.

  • Advanced Combat (SMGs and Handguns added, reloading)
  • Northern Island added – explore 22 new sectors
  • Grenades & destructible environment
  • Day/Night cycle
  • Weather system
  • Dress your mercenary – more items & armor added

The inclusion of the Northern Island, content-wise, is probably the biggest addition. Jagged Alliance was always about the holding, capture and recapture of territory to smack down that ruthless despot Deidranna, so having a bigger sandbox to play in will no doubt be welcome news.

Too much bullshit happening with so-called Jagged Alliance sequels who claim to do it right. I’m not taking any chances anymore, until someone actually proves me wrong.

This one has a LOT of community input, especially from Shanga (Bears Pit JA2 Community Site Admin) and a lot of the modders and players of JA2.

Full Control are desperate to make sure they make the game right as so many others have gone WOOT lets shoehorn the JA IP into our game as we haven’t got a clue how to have our own IP.

TBH it’s looking really damn good from where I stand ;)
