Literally a week after being unveiled, the EVE Online player monument in Iceland has been vandalised, with somebody using the EVE Fanfest event to post about it on Twitter as they singled out and defaced a particular name.
CCP have weighed in on the official forums, saying that “This is damage of public property in the City of Reykjavik. The police have been informed, and investigation is ongoing.”
“This is not a laughing matter, and will be dealt with as a criminal offence. We are currently reviewing security footage from a number of surrounding buildings.”
The reaction to the vandalising from the EVE community has been strong and vocal, with many calling the action “shameful” and “cowardly”. Famous EVE pranksters in the GoonSwarm also defaced the monument, but did so with an easily removable sticker, which is… nice?
