ArmA 3 Karts DLC brings April Fools joke to life, more DLC plans announced

ArmA 3 Karts

Although initially unveiled as an April Fools prank earlier this year, enough people have asked for it to be made a reality that Bohemia have caved in and released — yes — Arma 3 Karts, a DLC that replaces the serious military sim with go-kart racing.

“Enjoy this little sidestep in a typically military sandbox,” Bohemia note on the official site, while explaining that “A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the Arma 3 Karts DLC will be donated to the Czech Red Cross.” You can buy Karts here for $1.99.

The new Karts DLC is designed to help test Bohemia’s plan for releasing ArmA 3 content without fracturing the community. Their model will revolve around a generous try-before-you-buy system that will enable you to play with DLC even without buying it. Read more details on that here.

O.o

I am fairy confident in saying that Arma has the worst vehicle physics out of any current game. I damn well hope this waste of time included making it better. This is like all the bugs still in the game and lack of intuitive controls for actions but they added some fish. Oh and made them swim the correct ways.

This incompetent company could be a little competent at least if they got some priorities set.

Cool trailer though.

robbo89,

Are you talking about Call of Duty? I would understand your viewpoint if you had spent the time actually getting to know the game, but it sounds like you haven’t. Sure the vehicle physics aren’t real life, but its not game breaking and if you play the game as a simulator it doesnt take away from the enjoyment in my own opinion. .

Nice elitist comment, surprised you didn’t call me a kid. I’ve probably played more than you in more serious groups than you but still don’t act elitist and as if the game doesn’t have issues. Any person who plays Arma seriously knows it is bad and that you need many mods to make it work well, this is why a lot of serious groups stayed on Arma 2 for so long, they needed mods ported to fix 3. But hey, have fun with your go karts, I’m sure they will add to the experience and that those bugs and features at the top of their tracker can continue to be ignored for people like you.

The driving physics are way better than Arma 2 though. The only things I notice lacking in that regard is if you try driving in MP where something especially racing would be terrible with anyone not on your LAN.

The only real advantage that ArmA2 still has is A.C.E.2. Aside from that, ArmA3 features more than enough improvements to justify switching over.

Not to mention that several of the A.C.E features are now already covered by some other mods in A3.

And yes, the vehicle physics in A3 are not perfect, but they are still much better than in A2.
If you have problems with the steering, I suggest you change your controls. The default controls there suck and are inferior to A2. However, a few patches back they added (optional) direct steering which makes controlling the vehicles with a mouse much more responsive. (actually even better than in A2)
