WoW: Warlords of Draenor now in alpha testing

The Elder Scrolls Online? Never heard of it! It is entirely coincidental that we’re announcing alpha testing for World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Warlords of Draenor – even though you can’t get in on it yet.

According to Blizzard, Warlords of Draenor alpha testing is now live and despite restricting the “very early stage” tests to “friends and family” it expects info to be data-mined and proliferated.

The main focus of this test is some new technology, which actually sounds like quite a profound change for the ageing MMORPG. Blizzard is hoping to convert the entire game and all users to a new file format in a patch before Warlords of Draenor releases, you see.

The new system, CASC, replaces the decade-old Mo’PaQ, and is expected to have substantial knock-on effects – fewer file errors when patching, better game performance, client hotfixing, better streaming data support, and more.

If you want to help test Warlords of Draenor, you need to flag yourself as a beta hopeful in your account settings.

Here let me fix this for you.

“If you want to help test Warlords of Draenor, you need to flag yourself as a beta hopeful and make a blood sacrifice of an alliance player (preferably a gnome or panda) on every full moon and half moon then spin around in a circle 50 times while patting your head and rubbing your stomach in a circular motion in the opposite direction that you are spinning.”

:D

somexspec,

You forgot about the rubbing alfoil between in thumb and middle finger and chewing on a second piece of alfoil each morning after brushing and each evening after the blood sacrifices.

So I gather it’s hard to get into WoW alphas?

discolt,

Normally they don’t have them. Well they do but they have actual Alphas that are “in the works builds” only touched by people working on the project.

But the disturbing trend of public Alphas seems to have pushed them in the direction of calling closed Betas, Alphas >.>

spooler,

No this is a Friends and Family Alpha they have always done them but blizz has openly said it started this time and let the public data mine instead of the old mmo champ post appearing one day with tons of info and that alpha has been going for some time.
