Star Citizen creator Chris Roberts has used a live panel at last night’s PAX East show to pull the wraps off the long-awaited dogfighting module, shown to the public for the first time.

Some wonderful human has recorded all the footage from the livestream and slapped it online. See it below. I love it.

It is looking good. Some work will be needed to assist with effective landing and all but I like what I’m seeing.

That crash at the start haha. This game will have so much hilarity.

Looks beautiful. Definitely the catalyst for my next big upgrade.

If they did this for An Xwing or Tie Fighter game, I would wet my pants.

ok now I’m impressed. Not sure about the G forces though…doesn’t the G in G forces stand for gravity…and we’re in space? anywho…

G-Forces still apply in space as it’s the force of acceleration on a vector that causes it.

I do find it funny that CR admits he’s flying a bit drunk though :D

thepharoah,

Look up “centripetal force”

G-Forces are based on acceleration. The way we measure them is related to earths gravitation pull sure, but you still experience them during movement anywhere. At least this is my understanding.

looking very tasty :D
newtonian physics and thrust vectoring will make for some awesome and unique dog fighting.

1 gforce or “g” is 1 earth’s gravity or the equivalent force of. In this case it is equivalent force of that force being cause by acceleration similar to how when you accelerate in a car you are pushed back into the seat by the gforce (nothing to do with the earths gravity).

Very happy with the progress and my pledges so far, yes there’s bugs but I wouldn’t expect otherwise this early in release :)

Just wish the PC shops around here hadn’t all sold out of decent HOTAS setups…

When I got mine 6 months back I found Amazon was waaay cheaper than any Auzzie stores. Plus no stores had the x52 in stock, forcing me to go overseas.

Problem being Amazon is sold out of the X-55 as well with no ETA, and with DFM coming out in the next few weeks… :(

…and Newegg…

If you’re not after x52 pro’s try this: http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-X52-Flight-Control-System/dp/B00030GSJY
They have 3 left!
I’ve got one and are very happy with it. …just need an Oculus now! ;)

Flying choppers in BF4 is very nice with one of these!

x-52 is old though, current model is x-55.

for now I’m just sticking with mouse.

I’ll see what stick options there are once PU is released.
same for my gfx card, I’ll tough it out with lower [still playable] fps now until nearer release where much better cards will be lower in cost then is the case now.

This will be the game that will seriously move some Oculus Rift units. As much as I’m disgusted with the Facebook deal, it is possible I might be able to overlook that because this game in VR would be nothing short of amazing. Not to mention CinemaVR is highly appealing to me. Honestly I think cinemas will disappear within 20 years. I’m calling it now. VR is the future.

Looking very nice at this stage. Wasn’t expecting to see it at this level yet.

the rhino (x-55) is only pre-order atm (does look good though)… Chris did say at the pax event that they are working with saitek, thrustmaster and logicrap to deliver a SC hotas so probably a good idea to wait a few months and see what these kit makers can deliver for SC.

im a man but this moistens me.

wut

Yeah it would be in HOTAS manufactures interests to produce Starcitizen specific models.

Looking at that video, I see it still suffers from coloured space laser balls. Also not really enjoying that missile locking visual effect, throwing those sections of circle across the HUD is very distracting.

I’m going to use my current setup (Logitech Attack 3 PoS) with keyboard for DFM plus test keyboard & mouse as well as X360 controller. When it gets closer to SQ42 release then I’ll look at HOTAS setups :)
