Warlords of Draenor to launch in Australia this spring, AUD marketplace now live

World of Warcraft: Heroes of Draenor

Quite a bit of Blizzard-related news this morning, with the company announcing that the upcoming time-travelling fifth World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor, will launch in the Australian spring — that’s September, October or November.

As usual, there will be a variety of digital and physical collectors editions, with the physical one toting a full-color hardcover art book, a behind-the-scenes two-disc Blu-ray/DVD set and a CD soundtrack, and some other things. If you pre-purchase the game online here you’ll immediately be able to boost an existing character to level 90, something that Blizzard have confirmed will cost $60 if purchased separately.

Blizzard also send word that the World of Warcraft marketplace is now available directly in Australian dollars, which will help cut down on international conversion fees levied by banks and other financial institutions. Good stuff.

Unfortunately even if they charge in AUD if they don’t actually do the transaction from within an Australian bank, you’ll still get an ‘international transaction fee’.. which is a crock.

Do it via Paypal? Pre-ordered the D3 expansion from Blizzard, was quoted a price in AUD, payed with Paypal (which is linked to my account), and wasnt charged a fee.

So much for the promise they made after the 9 month wait between the last content patch and Mists of Pandaria being released. It was something along the lines that they’ll never have such a long period without a content patch prior to an expansion.

So… Last raid tier come out in 5.4, which was September 2013. This is going to be released between September and November (providing it’s not pushed back!). So that’s going to be 12-14 months with no new content. I hope Siege of Orgrimmar is fun.

Plonker they haven’t said there wont be any new content b4 then its just info on WOD and if there isnt then just don’t play till it comes out and use the saved money on getting the xpac+ time card and ul will have spare cash in your pocket

While they never 100% said it, they pretty much eluded to 5.4 Siege of Orgimmar being the last content patch before the expansion.

Here’s a quote from Tom Chilton (Game Director) made in November 2013:

“Any content we do now will delay the expansion by the same amount of time it took us to make that content. We are completely focused on making the next expansion and will try to deliver that as soon as we can, hopefully on a shorter cycle than players are imagining, but you never know, we will have to see.”

I remember it well, as it’s the time I unsubscribed.
