Titanfall getting private lobbies, companion app

Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment isn’t done with its mech multiplayer shooter just yet. In a series of tweets, producer Drew McCoy revealed the team is still hard at work on new features.

Private lobbies for eSports are on the cards, for example, and Respawn is working on a companion app that didn’t quite make it for the game’s launch.

Although it hasn’t been locked in, Respawn is looking at letting teams tag each other with colours, to make it easier to tell friend from foe.

How are you enjoying Titanfall’s Australian servers, then? They fired up yesterday and while technically still in beta testing early reports suggest they’ve made a significant improvement to the local experience. Go on, show us your ping.

From Perth I’m getting slightly lower pings to Singapore than to Australia, I’m torn between national pride and low latencies!

Private lobbies is what I’m waiting for before i buy. I like playing with friends but vs randoms all the time would get boring fast and once I’m bored with a game i find it hard to go back.

I’m in Albany and finding the same (98ms to SEA, compared to 120ms to AU BETA). Did have a large amount of lag spikes and drop outs but our servers are only beta and still in the process of rolling out so not writing them off yet.

Though we do have a direct cable between Singapore and Perth (http://www.iinet.net.au/iinetwork/iinet-global-network.pdf assuming you’re on an iiNet group ISP) which may help… though thats only 4.8Gbps link while to Sydney it’s 10Gbps link.

Tried it out on my friends account, had a nice 22ping :D

Check ya copper guys, Telstra is notoriously bad at maintenance. I’m getting 36-46ms to Sydney from QLD so it’s a massive improvement from SEA (180-250ms).

On release I found even with the high pings it was ok, but the day after it was rubber banding really badly. Since it’s gone to AU servers haven’t lost a game ;)

On the copper subject I used to have 60-70ms to Sydney at my old place. After a storm something got damaged and it started constantly dropping out, after a month of complaints to Telstra they sent two tech’s to clean up all the faults down the road. After that I was on 22-28ms to Sydney with no dropouts…

I may have moved on from Internode, but I do miss their support line.

18ms here, telstra bigpond ultimate cable :D

Telstra ultimate cable here aswell! too bad I live in WA so the best I get is 80ms :( i get anywhere from 50-70 when connected to SEA lol

how can you tell the server you’re on? I’m constantly only getting 130+. Running into walls or right in front of an enemy because the server is trying to connect is getting old fast.

On the main menu in the bottom right hand corner you can select what data center you want to connect to, I think it automatically defaults to whatever one has the lowest ping

40 – 50 ping from Toowoomba, so I’m happy

Getting around 80ms from toowoomba on the AU beta server. More then playable.

20 ping and having a blast.

20-40 ping on the AU server. Still doesn’t improve my shit aim though.

I hope the Titanfall app comes to Windows Phone and not just iOS and Android (as seems to be common with mobile app devs).

22 ping last night. Tried out the shotgun and I have to say it’s one of my favourite weapons, you just use Stim and wallrun all over the poor enemies.
