Next Assassin’s Creed game will be set in Paris, be called “Unity” – rumour

Assassin's Creed: Unity

By on March 20, 2014 at 8:11 am

Leaked images of the next upcoming Assassin’s Creed game have been released by Kotaku, and they appear to confirm a number of existing theories including the time period — 18th century Paris — and the name, Unity.

Kotaku also claims a “number of sources” that say this will be only one of two major Assasssin’s Creed games released in 2014, with Unity set for current-gen consoles (Xbox One and PS4) and a different one released for last-gen consoles, currently codenamed “Comet”.

I’ve put in another screenshot below, but you should definitely head along to the actual source at Kotaku if you want to see more.

This better involve some kind of piracy. If not, Ubisoft can eat my butt.

Before or after the Eiffel tower?

Before. Eifel Tower wasn’t constructed until the later 19th Century. (or Victorian period).

This guy on Neogaf wrote a post early on in March about a curious encounter with a dev of the series.

[So i was on a flight earlier today and playing liberation on my vita when the guy sitting next to me asked me what i thought about the game. I said it was pretty good to which he said that i will probably love the next one too. I told him that i already played black flag to which he smiled at me and said the one after that. Turns out that the guy was someone close to the series (dev/pr) and although he didn't disclose what exactly his position was, he did give me a fair bit of info on the upcoming title. My day was literally made when towards the end of our conversation he showed me a short clip about the game on his ipad. Mind you the guy was a not a native english speaker so there might be some errors in what he meant and i what i am posting here.

set in paris and england (london?)

main characters name is arno/harno something. will be heading the french divison of assassins.

looks to be set after the ezio period, character had handgun.

looks like victorian era judging by the way npc dressed, architecture, horse carriages parked on the streets.

Villa management is back. MC has his own villa (guy says its ezio's villa from AC:B). dunno if it makes any sense geographically or it might be a mistranslation.

codename is AC:unity. Not final title, might be battle/fight something (cant remember). The AC logo is cut in the middle like the beyond/quantum break logo.

MC has a blue suit with a tinge of red in the clip(might change). looked similar to the ones worn by the Knights in order 1886.

from the clip it looks like a cross gen title. Although the guy tells me its next gen only title.

Visually looked quiet decent but it was ver early footage. Had fantastic draw distance and crowd density was much higher than the older games despite them appearing/disappearing from thin air.

Thats all for now. I'll post if i remember anything more.]

Before or after the Eiffel tower?

You want to do a ‘Leap of Faith’ off it don’t you?

I would have liked Cairo in the 1920′s

Oops, double post. Sorry chaps!

Can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t!

Still not interested tbh.

If it bears a closer resemblance to AC2 than any other game then I’m keen. Yet to play Black Flag though it’s just sitting on my Steam list.

Do so as soon as possible. Its a great game.

Seconded, [sarcasm]You insane gun nut![/sarcasm]

Unity? Le Rick James, bitch!

Awesome, can’t wait!!

I wonder if the Assassins Creed series will adopt the Snowdrop engine at some point??

The new Division engine trailer looks fantastic. Seeing an Assassins Creed title rendered like that would be amazing.

Great timing. Just finished off the campaigns for ACIII and ACIV over the weekend (both played to about 85% completion of the storyline then left…until last weekend).

Thoroughly enjoyed both, although I preferred being a pirate. Always thought they could use the AC engine to simulate a full on war or something (and you’re just a soldier or something trying to survive).

One thing that annoyed me to no end with AC3 was the fact that Connor played such a prominent role in American historical events, made little attempt to work covertly as an Assassin, and was clearly a battlefield commander type figure. AC2 made it clear that after the prominent Assassins order fell from grace after the events of AC (hence the abandonment of their huge can’t-miss-it fortress) they preferred to work in the shadows. Basically I hope the next AC returns to that ‘secret society’ feel and that the protagonist isn’t thrust into prominent historical events just for the sake of it.

One based in Egypt would be superb I reckon! Would prefer ancient Egypt though.

Hmm, 1920′s Cairo would have been a mash up of British Imperialists and treasure hunters, shady Germans, local islamics, crazy cultists, robbers and criminals of every stripe.

So, AC: Le Miserables :)

That trailer makes it pretty explicit that it’s the French Revolution, so we’re talking not that long after AC: III (1789, but it could be set a bit later). I’ll be very surprised if Napoleon isn’t in it somewhere.

They could be drawing on the Scarlet Pimpernel for inspiration, too.

They seek him here, they seek him there…
