Gabe Newell’s long-awaited Reddit AMA has finally arrived, even appearing under a different name just to throw predators off the scent.
It’s currently still on-going at the time of writing, but I’ll save you the trouble: every question about Half-Life 3 has been ignored and/or downvoted.
That doesn’t mean we don’t have anything of interest yet, though. For example it looks like the recently-announced Steam Music program will be hooking in with Pandora, Spotify and/or other similar services in some way, with Gabe saying they’ve “got something in the works”.
Other interesting facts include that Gabe’s current favourite game is Dota 2, that 4Chan once sent them a crate and tried to sell them a key to open it (they sold the crate on Craigslist), and that they’re not planning to release any Steambox exclusive games.
Newell also chatted briefly on the famous hacking which released a huge chunk of Half-Life 2‘s source code, thanking one of the people responsible for the community-led investigation and saying that “it was one of the first cases in which the authorities were humbled by what a community of motivated people on the Internet can do”.
We’ll update this piece if any more interesting tidbits appear throughout the day!
