It's not what you'd expect.

While the name will no doubt make your eyes roll wildly in your head, Z-DAY is not what you’d expect. No, instead of a multiplayer experience in which you and your friends avoid zombies and kill strangers for hobo food, Z-DAY is a single player mod for Far Cry 3, albeit one riddled the living dead.
As noted by PC Gamer, Z-DAY is a full-fledged single player experience, with 12 levels set within a city ruined by the undead apocalypse. The name was inspired by D-Day, not Day Z, but developer GC_Vos has noted on his ModDB page that the name will be changed to avoid confusion and people getting irrationally upset over a name.
The open beta for Z-DAY is set to come out on March 1st, although if you’re looking for an entirely no fuss experience, the July release will package the new levels with cutscenes, voice acting and packaging to make the experience smoother. Embedded below are the first seven minutes of gameplay – it’s an alpha so you’ll notice some bugs, but it looks pretty neat and very tense.
