World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor pre-purchase allows you to level up to 90 instantly

World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

By on January 20, 2014 at 4:10 pm

Just prior to the weekend Blizzard posted a scouting report detailing some of the happenings occuring with regards to the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion for World of Warcraft. And along with noting the instructions for beta access, Blizzard have announced that anyone pre-purchasing Warlords of Draenor when it becomes available will receive the well publicised level-90 boost immediately, allowing more players to experience the end game content while they wait for the new expansion.

Blizzard also took the opportunity to note that they have been inundated with requests to boost multiple players to level 90, and they are currently looking into the best way to make that happen. A new option to purchase a level boost for an alternate character is currently in the works, and they will begin testing it soon – so expect more information on that in the near future.

Why bother even playing the game then? This game has become a f****n joke.

I’ve been saying for a while to my mates, with all these MMO’s that come out claiming to be a WoW killer this and WoW killer that, the only game that can kill WoW is WoW.

If they keep going like this, they’ll do it too.

P.S this is, of course, my opinion and not a statement of fact.

I’ve gotten back into it and my god is it easy compared to vanilla. Like wow. Just sooo much simpler.

They’ve even removed the classic talent trees which feels a bit crap to be honest. I have no idea what abilities I’m meant to be using and when with my monk. All a bit confusing really!

I am enjoying it though, and the new expansion should be a lot of fun :)

Preorder to win…wow gaming really has hit an all-time low.

How is it preorder to “win”? 90 puts you to where MoP is now. You’d still have to level up through to 100 in WoD.

Levelling in WoW is in no way shape or form hard. It is just time consuming. I’m not even sure why people are calling this pay to win. Everyone knows that the real game starts when you hit max level.

Good for returning players, if you want to start at 90 and be a different class than what you have at the moment, something I might well do, be a change from my warrior which is the only one I got to 90 before I stopped playing.

To level to 100 on a different class?

To win? No, to put you at the base level of the next expansion, it’s hardly winning.

I don’t understand the argument that insta level 90 is a bad thing … the vast majority of players have done it all before. What’s wrong with a free 90 ?

This pretty much… You don’t learn anything leveling anymore you could have made the argument back in vanilla that level was in-itself a challenge and taught you many aspects of playing your class well. Now it just doesn’t you can steam roll any level appropriate content with no issue and don’t learn anything about your class till level cap when people tell you to go Google how to play.

This even if that put you right at end game you still have to learn how to heroics/raids.

Or battlegrounds/arenas… the notion that hitting level cap is winning is the kind of thing someone who’s never played an mmo would say.

Then what’s the point in levelling then? Why not scrap levels altogether and people just “end game” from the beginning?

There’d be a very small group of people who’d be pre-ordering this expansion, just to jump past all the leveling having never done it before. It’s far more likely they’re gearing it towards people who are already playing, have a couple of 90s and this gives them another one without having to do the same content for the eleventyth time.

I don’t think it’s a stretch of any sort to imagine those that will use this, have leveled at least once before.

I think the instant-boost to 90 is aimed squarely at the (large) group of players who were disappointed with Cataclysm, and did not play Mists of Pandaria – me being one of them, and looking at the subscriber numbers, I’m not the only one.

This isn’t aimed at the new players who would want to experience leveling from 1-90, and it’s not aimed at existing players who’re already level 90.

It’s certainly interesting: I was flat out not going to try Warlords, because I’d have to level through the MoP content, but now that I don’t have to, it’s at least a vague possibility… anything to lower the barrier to entry.

I got offered a return trial for WoW a few months ago. I hesitantly reinstalled the game and my god its so simple now. You don’t even have to choose talents you click Tank, DPS role and it does it all for you.

Some people still enjoy levelling believe it or not. Vast majority of people who have already gotten to level 90 though just want to try out another max level character without repeating what they’ve already done (I have personally already done the levelling from 1-85 20 times)

I’m too cheap to pay for server transfers so i’ve made new characters when I change servers.

While wow is a bit easier now there is still hard content to enjoy. I have seen many people label the current wow as “easy” yet not one of them had finished a heroic raid when it was current.

When SoO released a fair amount of guilds had trouble downing the dark shamans from what I know. I have also found all the people that are complaining about how easy it is now base their entire argument on LFR content which should not be considered at all in the scope of raiding.
In MoP release you actually did have to CC mobs and some groups in the heroics, but as usual with progression that isn’t the case any more as everyone has out geared them.
Although if you do want a challenge you can do the challenge modes which lowers your iLVL and stats on your gear to make the heroic at least challenging.

I cant believe people are stupid enough to keep playing this game, especially from australia.

What exactly is your subscription paying for again? Local servers? New content? New features?

No, the game is ‘world of rehashed content: jewing edition’.

Im sure theres some drug addicts, alcoholics, smokers, paint sniffers, cutters etc that are glad to hear those words.

Lol Stryker, let’s not go around insulting everyone’s choices. I bagged out my WoW playing mates for a long time, yet I’m still playing and they’re waiting for the expansion.

It really depends on what you want from a game, and I’m finding WoW increasingly fits into my “chill the hell out when knackered from work/sport/hangover mode.” It’s basically replaced TV.

So whilst it may seem stupid to play, to me it’s a pittance a month and I’m enjoying the content. Can’t be all that bad can it?

Yes, because a past time that hurts no one, isn’t unsafe and has no health impact. Is the equivalent of getting high and cutting yourself *eyeroll*
