Thief footage showcases game customisation options in action

In our recent Thief preview we discussed how Eidos Montreal had given players the option to begin each of their games with a variety of customisations in place, such as removing the Focus mechanic, limiting Garrett’s ammunition, a one-life Iron Man mode and so on.

Now Eidos have released a new video of these options in action on the PS4 version, which you can check out below (the PC version is functionally identical, aside from the options regarding a touchscreen inventory). Take a look.

lol, you didn’t think it was the worst thing ever? You must work for them!

I’m glad people here aren’t stupid enough to make accusations like that….wait….they do make those accusations. OH WELL.

“This game has both good and bad points”

“THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT A PAID REVIEWER WOULD SAY”

Your review was going well till you got to the good points, that’s where you lost credibility!

Tim Colwill,

Rate a game lower than 8 out of 10 and you’re a hopeless reviewer who must hate computer games.

Talk about a game being 8 – 10 and you must be in the pocket of the developer.

We’re living in the age of hipsters and fan bois.

And that, my friend, is exactly why we got rid of review scores.

Indeed – and much better for it I ‘reckon – and as for Thief….I’m getting pretty pumped about it.

Was waiting for the option where you select the colour of Garret’s underpants. Go commando for that extra level of difficulty, as then Garret has to crouch more carefully than he otherwise would.

vcatkiller,

Going commando also results in less inventory space, as everyone stores things in their daks right?

ralphwiggum,

Good thing he has a quiver otherwise I’d be anxious about arrow storage.

I would pay $10 just for the menus.

Yeah there is a person who posts on Eidos Thief forums who so far has accused people of doing paid reviews simply because they had positive things to say.

They were quoting fans who had been invited to play the first four hours of Thief and pointing out that for every bad thing they said it would invariably follow with a good point to offset the bad – as proof of their complicity apparently.

To any reasonable person it would seem like they were doing the ages old review method of counterbalancing information (goods/bads) to offer balanced information.

Maybe the problem was that very last frame where if you freeze it you can see a still image of Tim running our of Eido’s HQ with a swag of money with loose notes flying out of it.

It’s all a conspiracy, all of it!

;) :P

Tim Colwill,

I hope you’ve learned a valuable lesson Tim?

Don’t read YouTube comments. In fact, turn that shit off if it’s possible.

Man, I have GOT to get better at my editing skills! I really thought I cut that out!

lol :P

Of the previews I have seen for Thief Tim yours is honestly the most straight forward without getting bogged down in how it “should of been more Thief”. It’s just a straight up and honest preview of a game with no hidden agenda either way which made it highly refreshing.

Some of those previews out there, just wow. Some are complete breakdowns on the first four levels total spoiler territory, some are simple bashings about how it should of been a real Thief game and some are gut churning-ly candy coated gush fests.
