DayZ standalone shifts 800,000 copies in less than a month

DayZ Standalone

Dean “Rocket” Hall has described the number of sales racked up so far by the standalone version of DayZ as “crazy”, saying that he and Bohemia are blown away.

“We (bohemia and I) had very ambitious plans for 2014 already, however this amount of sales was completely unexpected,” he commented on Reddit.

“Honestly, 250k within a quarter was what I would have considered a success. So to move nearly 800,000 in under a month is crazy.”

“We’ll be finalizing our roadmap in mid January, but it is safe to say that this kind of result will be having a very positive effect on that roadmap.”

I found it amazing that for the most part it remained at number 1 on steam through the Christmas sale. Quite an achievement!

Particularly considering how bad it is.
Its like the basic mod of dayz [not like origins] but worse with all the old lag and desync bug plus the zombies are still broken and you starve or die of dehydration in no time.
you’re literally thirsty right after you spawn in.

now sure its just alpha but wtf have they been doing in the last 2 years? they literally could have copied the mod and had a better game already since their supposed backend work hasn’t made even the slightest improvements.

It did fall from number 1 a few times during the sale but it was brief and soon rectified (this is according to my steam while browsing the sale :D).

trb,
i fully agree and they have millions to do nothing with, i spose time will tell.

Consumers have shown they still want this game , now bohemia should pull their head out of their arse and finish the dam thing.
