Bohemia Interactive have revealed that, despite being in early access and riddled with unspeakable amounts of bugs, DayZ has sold over one million copies in just four weeks.

The milestone was announced on Twitter, with Bohemia simply saying “Thank you”.

Here’s a video of games.on.net contributor Joab Gilroy robbing a man for his can opener.

Lmao, Joabs the gentleman bandit. I can see him twiddling his moustache as he robs you for your gray poupon mustard.

Damn that makes me miss Day-Z really badly :(

1 million copies huh? goes to show there remains a very large market for this game.

Nasty Wet Smear

Soooooo…. Um, any news on that single player stuff yet?

Cold Blooded Animals:

- Reptiles
- Fish
- Amphibians
- Joab

I’d rob someone for a can opener aswell. They’re rare as hell!

I think they’re cursed though, every time I get one, I die within 10 mins. :/

Is this something they’re planning on implementing? Would be the only reason I’d be interested in eventually picking it up if so.

“Everyone who said it wouldn’t work in ARMA 2 engine snaps pencils in rage.”

Should read “gamers willing to pay for not complete mess that offers less features than mod”…
Don’t get me wrong if you’re having fun more power to you but considering all the people that jumped on the war z hate train for launching in a state better than this is currently in …

For me, it’s the first time I’ve played DayZ. I avoided the mod due to the hackers. Mind you, I think there’s still hacking going on.

nastywetsmear,

You’re slipping mate, it’s been a while since the last time you asked. :P

TBH ArmA 3 engine feels the same as ArmA 2 except the animations are sped up, it runs worse, and the inventory system is changed and marginally less obtuse.

Adding houses was a big thing ArmA 2 had to do over ArmA 1 and they did it pretty well, although they still have the problem where you stand in towers and such where your character hangs over the edge and can sometimes fall off (especially bad in the ArmA 1 marksman mission where you have to take out a few dozen guys rushing you when you’re sitting in a water tower you can barely stay on).

nastywetsmear,

DayZ would be incredibly boring without the player interactions.

Still hackers on both, SA is attracting a fair few now, but this time is secured by Battleye and VAC (both of which are so far proving utterly useless).

However on a good ArmA 2 Mod server the hackers are usually caught before too much damage is done.

I’m still waiting for vehicle implementation and a few more weapons as the current selection is pretty boring at the moment. Plus the reliance on other people is a lot higher for things like Epi-penning and so on. I think the knock-out mechanic needs more work so instead of just straight knock-out with no in-between it should have the ability to have slowed down reactions and blurred vision. Would give you a chance to Epi-pen and try to self revive that way.

as much as i enjoy playing this, the number of hacks / scripts being used already is making it very frustrating
things from aimbots to basic freezing the players is running rampant
full or near full servers seem to be the most hit so ive limited myself to lower population servers

Is everyone just ignoring rapid101 now, was there a memo I didn’t get or something? He has made about 5 ridiculous posts already today and not one bite, I’m so proud of us as a community, we are coming along nicely.

I’m glad Day Z has improved house fighting and that SC has offline now, I guess? I don’t know what you want me to say.

I think I have two or three of them, lol

discolt,

Trade you for something? :P I’m stuck opening cans with a fireman’s axe atm :P

lololol even a kitchen knife or screwdriver or i think even the pliers work too

ive also decided not to bother looking for a rifle, cos unlike US servers or UK servers or even out own gentleman bandit here, everyone is on a shoot first, loot after mentality , which just ruins the game not to mention your gear that gets hit from the bullets.

at least if you dont have a rifle ppl dont see you as much as a threat , unless you in elecktro , that place is just like detroit, ppl will shoot you for nothing (im convinced those ppl are the call of duty generation of players that need to shoot some one or its a shit / boring game in their eyes)

It’s currently school holidays … thar be ALOT of 12 year olds playing day z

^This, I spent a fair bit of time playing the mod and can tell you that after about 11PM once all the kiddies are in bed, or after about 9AM once they are all at school the game takes on a whole new character.
